Renovations efforts began June 17th and crews have worked diligently through the past 5 weeks making tremendous progress. Here our visitors can look through photos, taken throughout the past 5 weeks, documenting these exciting transformations.
June \ July 2009
This is the current view from within the main hallway looking (north) down to what was the Art room.
Here we see a view from within the Art room, looking (south) down the main hallway toward the Library.
From the second floor hallway, just next to where the staircase used to be, a view looking (south) toward the Language and Computer rooms.
The current view from within Mr. Thibodeau's old classroom, on the second floor, looking (south) down the hallway.
In the picture we see the space that had housed the Horticulture room and Superintendent's office.
Renovation efforts are underway as we have a look at Ms. Sheila's former classroom.
Blasting had been down to reduce the height of underlaying ledge.
Here we see blasting being done on the northwest end of the property.
Once the ledge had been blasted, this piece of machinery was used to break the large chunks of ledge and rock up preparing the area for excavation.
Again we see the same piece of machinery working to prepare the area for excavation.
A portion of the school yard\field was dug out to accommodate the plumbing needed for the portable classrooms.
Trenches needed to be dug so that plumbing pipes could be installed for the portable classrooms.
Looking to the west we see the trench being dug.
Here we see workers laying piping for the plumbing.
Once all the piping is installed the trench will be covered up and the leveled out.
More of the trench that will house the plumbing to the portable classrooms.
An "eagle's eye" view of one portion of the construction site.
Looking south from the second floor, outside the Language room, looking down onto the area where the new classrooms addition will be built.
Work has been done to prepare the foundation's footing.
Workers prepare the new classroom addition's footing before the concrete is poured.
Workers check to ensure that all is secure as the concrete is poured.
The concrete is pour using a converter belt system that transfers the concrete across a lengthy, distant stretch of terrain.
Looking (north) across to the center island ledge has been reduced and the island has been edged back.
The first of two halves of the portable classroom is unloaded off of a barge onto the roadway.
Here we see the barge that transported the portable classrooms to Islesboro, docking on the banks just off Hewes Point Road.
Once the portable classrooms have been unloaded, off the barge, they are then transported to the school by truck. We thank Islesboro Public Safety personel for their assistance.
